TAD System
Software –
Torque, Drag, Buckling and Hydraulics Model.
The TAD System Software is
K&M’s original software package that was
built to answer the needs of extended reach drilling
planning and surveillance. This
system has evolved through the years to include our
Drag Risk Analysis, Buckling Risk Analysis and Hydraulics
Systems. The system has been field tested for the
past 15 years, has been run side-by-side against most
of the major torque, drag and buckling models and
has ALWAYS been the most accurate and user friendly
system in these tests.
The
TAD System Software is a flexible string torque and
drag model based on the Dawson-Moorhead algorithms.
It treats pick-up, slack-off and torque as individual
parameters with individual friction factors. The system
allows the user to conduct quick look “String”
calculations or to conduct detailed Drag Risk Analysis
with minimal user interface. Graphical displays are
generated automatically for the parameters that are
identified as being studied.
The TAD System Software also allows
calculations for buoyed casing, roller centralizers,
varying fluid densities, multiple friction factor
environments and many other scenarios that are common
in today’s complex wells.
The
Buckling Risk Analysis (BRA) calculations are
now an integral part of the TAD System Software having
undergone several years of testing and benchmarking.
This process is now the most accurate representation
of the buckling environment for extended reach or
complex wells in the industry. The BRA allows the
user to conduct buckling sensitivity calculations
for varying weight on bit or for varying friction
factors at any given depth. The algorithms used in
the TAD System Software for buckling are proprietary
and have been shown to be the most accurate in the
industry.
The
Hydraulics Module to the TAD System Software is
the most recent addition to the package. The Hydraulics
model has been undergoing field testing and benchmarking
for the past three years and now accurately represents
not only surface pressures, but also annular pressures
(ECD’s) in the various drilling modes. Once again,
K&M believes this system to be one of the most
accurate models in the industry.
