ERDesigner
is the first fully integrated complex well design
system that offers the experienced drilling and
completion engineer the tools that will be required
to successfully design an extended reach well.
|
K&M has taken our comprehensive
in-house design process, and coupled it with our field
proven engineering software and advanced training
courses to build an integrated
Extended Reach Design System (ERDesigner).
A key feature in the design of this package is the
elimination of the need to 're-learn' the use of engineering
software each time that a new project is begun. ERDesigner
has a continuously active,
fully integrated user
guidance system that provides the engineer
with a step-by-step format
for completing the task at hand.
| ERDesigner
combines the power of K&M's TAD System Software(torque,
drag, buckling, hydraulics and 3D-well planning)
with our other engineering tools such as the Well
Cost Model, the ERD Difficulty Index and the K&M
textbook (Drilling Design and Implementation for
Extended Reach and Complex Wells, third Edition).
These engineering tools, combined with K&M's
proven design process, are the basis for the ERDesigner's
protocols. |

ERDesigner is comprised
of five modules (levels)
that provide a logical progression from budgetary
cost and feasibility to detailed well design.
Each level
not only provides
the engineering tools, checklists, templates and
sample procedures for completing the required
tasks, it also begins to compile the written report
for that section. The report from the Detailed
Well Design level can provide the basis for a
drilling program.
ERDesigner
also has a comprehensive automated graphics
package. The engineering software runs the calculations
and creates the canned plots automatically.
The user then has complete editing capabilities,
if that is required, including the ability to
annotate, change scale, add actual data or change
the plot colors.

ERDesigner
was created to save the engineer time by eliminating
the need to re-learn the software each time that it's
used and by providing a proven and efficient design
process. The levels within
the system are:
- Level
1 -Budgetary Time,
Cost & Feasibility (Well path plans, rig power
requirements, difficulty assessment, time and cost)
- Level
2 -Offset Well &
Hazard Review (Templates and 'What to Look For's
')
- Level
3 -Detailed Design
Phase (Comprehensive thorough to the
drilling program)
- Level
4 -Implementation (Guidance
of various topics dealing with field related issues)
- Additional
Information - provides
useful links to K&M's text, engineering resources,
etc.
