Basic Description: Feasibility study for Petronius A-9 delivered. Major conclusions were that the well design is driven by ECD’s in the 8 ¹/₂” interval. Recommended design involves running 9 ⁵/₈” as a liner, which has historically been run as a long string at Petronius.

Systems approach to well design produced an optimized approach that will significantly improve performance on future Petronius wells.

Comments: Sidetrack of A-20 (starting in May 2004) will incorporate the design philosophy used for planning A-9. If A-20 is successful, A-9 will be drilled in a similar fashion.

Basic Description: Engineering peer review for a complex 3-D directional well drilled from Gullfaks C.

Key Learnings: Zontal isolation during the 7” cement job is the primary driver. Recommendations centered on allowing rotation during the cement job.

Comments: Well is currently being drilled (13 ³/₈” casing set in early May). 2.5 day school being taught early May.

Basic Description: Mechanical Feasibility Study of sidetrack replacement shallow gas producer

Key Learnings:

¾ Shallow true vertical well with 2.5 horitzonal to vertical ratio in sub-sea location.

¾ Cumulative drag driver for negative weight even though buckling evident in riser.

¾ Standard design versus slim-hole design evaluated. The slim-hole design advantageous since the intermediate 7” casing could be rotated in the hole versus the mud over air flotation required for 9-5/8” casing. The primary disadvantage of the slim hole design is completion is constrained to 4 ½” screens.

Comments: This project includes collaboration with Iain Hutchinson, Doug Ellis, and Brandon Foster.

Project Name: Mechanical Feasibility Study

Report Period: April 1, 2004 - April 31, 2004

Basic Description: The MFS accounts for the intial part of the ERD study of INPEX's assest in the Browse Basin offshore Australia. The MFS was performed to identify potential reach of ERD wells and preliminary rig requirements based on limited information and three basic well designs.

Key Learnings: Wells of up to 9 km reach are feasible in the area given a sufficient rig package. These reachs would exceed the current industry benchmark at the given TVD's.

Comments: The report was completed and the project presentation was given to INPEX in Perth Australia on April 29^th, 2004.
