Patrick then provided engineering support to 2005 Sarawak Gas drilling program. The Sarawak Gas drilling program includes complex 3-D well paths and high angle 16” and 12 ¼” hole sections. His key responsibilities included torque & drag, buckling modeling and real-time hole condition monitoring. At the end of the drilling program the 12 ¼” hole is making progress of 3000 ft/day without sacrificing hole cleaning.
In 2006, Patrick provided engineering support to Shell China’s gas drilling project in Ordos Basin. The project includes 54 medium reach dual/tri lateral horizontal in thin, abrasive and hard rock environment.
