Career Summary:
Having graduated in Mechanical Engineering, Andy joined BP at their research center in the UK where he worked on a range of challenges; primarily using computer based numerical modeling techniques. Having developed BP’s torque and drag program, he was seconded into BP’s drilling operations in the North Sea for two years. Rather than returning to BP’s research facility when his segment was over, Andy chose to join Hess in Aberdeen and continue working in drilling operations. After a period of exploration well planning and operational support he planned Hess’ first offshore horizontal well and then their first HP/HT well. Following two years working as a Superintendent running two semi-submersibles drilling exploration and subsea development wells, he moved into drilling management where he held positions in Drilling Engineering and Drilling Operations for Europe, North Africa and Asia before being promoted to Hess’ global head of drilling and completions (based in Houston). As well as the usual operations one might expect from an international independent with interests ranging from land drilling to deepwater, his experience covers many specialized areas of drilling such as unconventional shale plays in the USA, desert drilling in Algeria, extreme UBD operations onshore Thailand, through tubing rotary drilling (TTRD) in the North Sea and ultra deep well drilling in the GoM.
Having always enjoyed developing and applying technology to solve real challenges, it was with great enthusiasm that Andy joined K+M at the start of 2009, where he could continue to work on world class projects and help the industry push the envelope of what is achievable.
Andy, his wife Lesley and their two children reside in The Woodlands, Texas.
